The Treater Series grade, also known as #2 Prime SYP is a proprietary grade of framing lumber produced only by Weyerhaeuser. Before logs are cut, they are computer-graded to determine which boards to be cut will fall into the Treater Series grade. This allows them to determine which direction the joist will crown, and save the installer time on shimming and planing.
40% Lighter.
After the treatment process, Treater Series framing lumber is returned to the kiln and dried back to its original moisture content. This is why you will hear it referred to as KDAT, or Kiln-Dried After Treatment. This process makes for a much lighter material which is much less likely to warp, twist, or bow.
6 Month Warranty.
Treater Series framing lumber is backed by a 6 Month field warranty, which covers twists, crooks, and bows which develop in the boards within the first 180 days after the original date of invoice. This warranty also covers any labor costs incurred during the replacement of defective boards up to $10 per linear foot of material replaced.
